Royal Doulton - 29th April 2007

500 people lost their jobs when Royal Doulton closed their last remaining UK factory in 2005. The majority of the factory's production was moved to the Far East with all of Doulton's manufacturing operations to be moved overseas eventually.

Doulton employed over 8000 people in the Potteries area in the 70's. The closure of the Nile Street factory is a huge blow to Stoke-on-Trent as they have been a major employer in the area for over 150 years.

All that remains of Royal Doulton in the famous Potteries area is a new factory with 50 employees creating limited edition china.
